An alchemy crystal singing bowl is a quartz singing bowl infused with precious metals, gemstones, or minerals during the crafting process. The metals and stones are bonded to the surface of the bowl under high heat, which gives each bowl its colour, its unique visual character, and a broader spectrum of overtones than a plain quartz bowl.

At SlowMuse Crystals, every bowl is handcrafted from premium pure quartz. Each one is uniquely handmade, so the finish, colour, and small visual details will vary from the photos. We see that variation as part of the bowl's character. It means yours will be one of one.

A regular crystal singing bowl is made from pure quartz. An alchemy crystal bowl starts with that same pure quartz base, but during the crafting process additional materials can be fused onto or into the surface, such as gold, platinum, gemstones like emerald or amethyst, minerals like moldavite, or other coloured quartz.

Most people choose a bowl in one of three ways. You can use any of them. There is no wrong way.

By chakra. Each of the seven main chakras is associated with a specific note. If you're drawn to a particular area of the body or a colour, start there. Our product pages list the chakra for every bowl.

By size. Bigger bowls produce a deeper, longer-sustaining tone. Smaller bowls produce a higher note with quicker decay. A 6-8 inch bowl is the most common starting point. Sets are popular when you want to play more than one note together.

By feel. Listen to the audio preview on every product page. The bowl that makes you breathe a little differently when you hear it is usually the right one.

The most common way is with a suede-wrapped mallet, which is included with every bowl and set.

1. Hold the bowl steady on your palm or on a rubber O-ring cushion.
2. Rest the mallet against the outside rim.
3. Press down with even pressure and circle the rim slowly. Feel the friction build.
4. After a few seconds, lift the mallet cleanly away. The bowl will sing on its own.

For a softer, more atmospheric sound, lightly stroke the outside rim without pressure. For a deeper, louder note, press harder and circle faster.

Most bowls will also sing if you tap them gently with a soft mallet. That's a useful technique when you want a short, bright note rather than a sustained tone.

Crystal singing bowls are durable, but the surface can be sensitive to a few things. A short post-session routine will keep yours in good shape for years.

After a session

• Wipe the outside with a soft, dry or very slightly damp cloth.
• Avoid any cleaning product. Water alone is enough.
• Dry it fully before putting it away.

Ongoing

• Store in its pouch or a soft cloth when not in use.
• Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight. UV can slowly shift some colours over time.
• Don't leave it on a cold windowsill in winter. Extreme temperature changes can stress the quartz.
• Avoid hard knocks. A dropped bowl can crack.

Sound care

Bowl tone can feel "muddied" after heavy use. To clear it, place the bowl in moonlight for a few hours, smudge it with sage or palo santo, or play it for a few minutes with a clear intention. Sound clears sound.

Yes. Every bowl in the collection is already uniquely made by hand, but if you'd like a specific size, note, colour, or set combination that isn't currently in the shop, we can often make it for you. Book a call with Gabi and we'll talk through what's possible.

Custom orders typically take the same 4-5 weeks as our standard bowls, sometimes a little longer.

SlowMuse Studio is south of Aarhus, Denmark. At this time we don't have a physical shop you can walk into. We do have our SlowMuse Studio where Gabi uses singing bowls.
